Mountainside community surrounded by tall aspens and forests
Named for Hyde Memorial State Park, Hyde Park sits 5 miles east of Downtown Santa Fe in the Sangre de Cristo foothills, surrounded by the towering aspens and ponderosa pines of the Santa Fe National Forest. “It’s the perfect combination of luxury and the great outdoors,” explains Emily Garcia, a local Senior Broker with Sotheby’s International Realty. “Hyde Park Road runs all the way from the Plaza to the Ski Basin, climbing around 3,000 feet along the way.” Gated subdivisions like High Summit and Hyde Park Estates branch from this central road, featuring scenic views of Santa Fe’s lights and lush mountain hills. “The aspens in Hyde Park turn such a unique color in the fall; it’s like being in a sea of gold,” says Lise Knouse, a Broker Owner with Keller Williams Realty and Santa Fe local.
Hyde Park is a very calm community with great outdoor opportunities.

Sprawling natural spaces, tons of ski slops and miles of trails
Set in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Hyde State Memorial Park spans 350 acres and marks the entrance into the Santa Fe National Forest. Ponderosa pines and aspens shade the campgrounds here, which include over 50 camping sites and three yurts (round tents used by Native American cultures) that visitors can rent. Six miles east — and over 2,000 feet higher — Santa Fe Ski Basin is one of the highest ski resorts in the country and features 88 runs; during the summer months, nature lovers can ride the ski lifts here and see the flowerful meadows usually blanketed with snow. Hyde Memorial State Park and the Ski Basin also serve as trailheads for the hundreds of miles of hiking paths in the Santa Fe National Forest, including the nearly 25-mile Dale Ball Trail Network. “The Aspen Vistas Trail is super accessible, and the Dale Ball Trails are clearly marked, so you’ll never worry about getting lost,” Garcia says.
The Santa Fe Ski area is just up the road from Hyde Park for winter time fun.

Sprawling Santa Fe-style estates and lots
Hyde Park’s Santa Fe-style estates are set in gated communities along private, winding roads that climb the Sangre de Cristo foothills. Built between the 2000s and 2020s and set on lots that range from a half-acre to 5 acres, these homes have beige stucco exteriors, flat roofs and exposed wooden beams called vigas. Most homes here feature radial layouts that are designed to soak in views of the mountain hills and city lights. Prices vary depending on a home's views and lot size, and generally range from $1 million to $3.2 million. Undeveloped lots are also available, with prices ranging from $100,000 for a half-acre on a steep ridge to $600,000 for an acre of flat land surrounded by mountain views.
Residents of Hyde Park will get stunning views from their properties.

Japanese spas and eateries
Downtown Santa Fe’s many shopping and dining options are 5 miles west, including grocery stores like Sprouts Famers Market and Market Street. Set within the neighborhood, Ten Thousand Waves Spa is a ryokan (Japanese inn) amid 20 acres of rugged mountain hills and ponderosa pines, offering hot springs, saunas and traditional Japanese lodging. “It’s my favorite place to staycation because it feels so removed from Santa Fe, being in this little Japanese village with pagodas and spa houses,” says Paige Cochran, a local Associate Broker with Keller Williams Realty. Visitors can climb the resort’s paths to reach Izanami, a Japanese tapas restaurant surrounded by stone gardens and ponds. “It has the largest soba collection in the world outside Japan, and it’s not like a traditional, fancy sushi place. It’s really welcoming, and the food’s always delicious,” Garcia says.

Fiestas de Santa Fe in the Plaza
Each year in late August, Hyde Park locals head downtown to the Santa Fe Plaza to celebrate the Fiestas de Santa Fe. Every evening during the fiestas, small events like the Fiesta Fine Arts and Crafts Market and the Desfile de los Niños Pet Parade fill the Plaza with visitors. The fiestas finally end with the Burning of Zozobra at Fort Marcy Park; a towering puppet representing sadness, Zozobra is ignited to bring a fresh start to the fall season.
Hyde Park residents can find many different restaurants around the Santa Fe Plaza.
