Single-family homes and townhomes in the Santa Fe architectural style
Buyers should expect to see the Santa Fe architectural style, which combines Pueblo- and Territorial-style features like flat roofs and earth-toned stucco finishes. Not many homes are on the market at a time, but over a year, as of April 2025, prices were in the $900,000s to $1.8 million. "Homes in this area may offer more space compared to those in Santa Fe's more urbanized sections. Some properties have larger lots and gardens," says Nichole Aragon, an associate broker with Simply Real Estate. Most lots are a half-acre or more. Townhomes and condos are concentrated north of Los Lovatos Road and are typically in the $500,000s to $800,000s.
The CAP Index Crime Score in Near North is 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.

There's a lot to do at Fort Marcy Recreational Complex
Southeast of the neighborhood are Fort Marcy Park and the Fort Marcy Recreation Complex, which feature a 25-yard pool, gymnasium, dog park and racquetball courts. Sports leagues like Santa Fuego Baseball frequently visit Fort Marcy. The Friday before Labor Day, the park is the site of the Burning of Zozobra, which brings crowds of over 60,000. The effigy-burning event meant to eradicate gloom and worry has been held for over 100 years. Also marking the end of summer is the Fiestas de Santa Fe, a city-wide celebration with numerous events held over weeks.
Locals can often be found walking their dogs at Fort Marcy Park.

Shopping, dining and services along the Rodeo Road corridor
Santa Fe Plaza, or The Plaza, is a National Historic Landmark with a central park and original adobe buildings that date to the city's 17th-century Spanish Colonial era. The Plaza's shops, restaurants, galleries and events are a big draw. The Shed, a popular cantina serving New Mexican specialties, is housed in a 19th-century hacienda. Events "on The Plaza" include the Santa Fe Farmers Market, held on Saturdays year-round; Sovereign Santa Fe, a contemporary Native American Art exhibition in August; and the Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta in September. DeVargas Park and DeVargas Center offer more suburban-style shopping and dining close to the neighborhood. Grocery stores include Sprouts Farmers Market and Market Street. Atriscos Cafe & Bar is another option for New Mexican cuisine, and Jinja Bar & Bisto fuses Pacific Islands and East Asian cooking. The Alley has 12 lanes for spring pin bowling, plus billiards, darts and shuffleboard.
Dine local at Atrisco Café, a Near North favorite for New Mexican comfort food.

Some walking, much driving and there's access to commuter rail
Dirt roads without sidewalks link residential lots in Near North. Hilly streets include Los Lovatos Road and Paseo de La Loma. "Streets here tend to be quieter, with less traffic than other communities," Aragon says. Near North is car-dependent other than its convenient proximity to downtown, which may entice some to walk. To the west is U.S. Route 84, and to the south, there's state Route 475. A commuter-rail trip to Albuquerque takes about 2 hours from the downtown Santa Fe Depot Rail Runner Station. The Santa Fe Regional Airport, about 12 miles from the neighborhood, offers flights to hubs like Phoenix, Denver and Dallas/Fort Worth. Some Santa Fe residents are concerned about noise related to the airport: the number of flights has increased, while the future of noise abatement policies is unknown.
Near North residents enjoy access to NCRTD transit connections in the Plaza.
Near North offers convenient train access via Santa Fe Depot’s Rail Runner line.
