Residents can order grocery delivery or pick out home goods at Foods Co. grocery store, Target or Walmart Neighborhood Market. Santa Maria West contains many local eateries in the neighborhood and nearby. Hungry customers order falafel and baba ganoush beneath softly lit pergolas on the outdoor patio of Garden Mediterranean Restaurant. "If you want to eat out, Shaw's Steakhouse and Santa Maria Inn are both good options," Brown says. The Santa Maria Inn is a historic staple where locals enjoy an elegant dining experience paired with Central Coast wines and craft beers.

Heading to the fairgrounds or downtown
Locals across the region will visit the neighborhood's Santa Maria Fairpark for the Santa Barbara County Fair held in July. The grounds also host the Santa Maria Valley Strawberry Festival in April. Just north of the community, in the city's center, residents gather during the warmer months. The public event attracts food trucks, local vendors and anyone who enjoys live music.
Several schools, two districts
Residents in elementary and middle school attend the Santa Maria-Bonita School District. The school system provides supplemental academic initiatives, such as the After School Program (ASP) and extended day programs. Kindergarten to sixth graders may attend one of the public elementary schools inside of the community. William Laird Adam Elementary receives a C-minus from Niche and David J. Sanchez Elementary has a C grade. El Camino Junior High, which accepts seventh and eighth-grade students, has a C grade from Niche and requires students to wear uniforms. Santa Maria High has a B-minus grade and is a part of the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.
Santa Maria's Adam Laird Elementary is home of the Angels.
El Camino Jr High maintains a 9 or 10 rating on a 1-10 scale for comparable California schools.

The Santa Maria Area Transit is a popular option for local travel, while the Santa Maria Airport is less than 5 miles away for further distances. The city has several medical offices, including Dignity Health's Marian Regional Medical Center, a few blocks from Santa Maria West.
