Between the Santa Cruz Mountains and Silicon Valley’s major tech employers

Arguello lies at the feet of the Santa Cruz Mountains on the outskirts of west San Jose. This neighborhood, about 15 miles from downtown, is a suburban community with an overall CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, lower than the national figure of 4. The commute from Arguello to Silicon Valley tech employers like Apple is about 5 miles. Arguello borders another residential Saratoga neighborhood called Blue Hills. “Arguello and Blue Hills are more diverse than some of the other Saratoga neighborhoods,” says EJ Pulpan, Saratoga native and agent at Christie’s International Real Estate Sereno.

Quiet, landscaped suburbia outside San Jose

Though there are no sidewalks in Arguello, the quiet streets allow for neighborhood strolls and bike rides. Cul-de-sacs are lined with flowers and manicured shrubs. “Arguello has smaller lots of 6,000 to 8,000 square feet,” Pulpan says. “Its development was about a decade later than Blue Hills’. It was built by the same builder.” Single-story homes are common, and styles vary from contemporary to Mediterranean-influenced properties. Prices range from $3.5 million to $7.5 million; higher-priced properties are generally closer to the Santa Cruz Mountains with more square footage. Typical features include solar panels and multicar garages.
