Older Savannah neighborhood minutes from downtown
In 1949, Abercorn Heights-Lamara Heights was Savannah's largest subdivision development in the late 1940s. It was the first development to offer large lots and ranch-style homes. The community stretches from Bull Street on the west to Paulsen Street on the east, East 61st Street on the north, and East Derenne Avenue on the south. “It is a very desirable part of Savannah,” says Alison Harris, a Realtor with Keller Willams Coastal Partners, who lived in the area and has been in the market for nearly two decades. “People like the homes because they are historical and cute, the districted elementary school is highly rated, and you can walk to the Haversham Village for all amenities.”
Historic houses on spacious lots
Narrow city streets are underneath the shade of scattered tall trees, including willows. Properties are separated from the streets thanks to spacious front yards that are well-kept. Homestyles reflect the late 1940s and feature some of the first ranch styles in Savannah and bungalow homes. The original properties have been torn down in some sections, and new construction properties have replaced them. Prices range from $317,000 to $853,000, but buyers can expect a three-bedroom bungalow to sell for around $475,000, with new construction homes rising to around $725,000. “Because of the desirability, properties that are priced right move quickly off the market,” Harris sa
