Abercorn Heights-Lamara Heights
Suburban Neighborhood in Savannah, Georgia
Chatham County 31405
Historic houses on spacious lots
Narrow city streets are underneath the shade of scattered tall trees, including willows. Properties are separated from the streets thanks to spacious front yards that are well-kept. Homestyles reflect the late 1940s and feature some of the first ranch styles in Savannah and bungalow homes. The original properties have been torn down in some sections, and new construction properties have replaced them. Prices range from $317,000 to $853,000, but buyers can expect a three-bedroom bungalow to sell for around $475,000, with new construction homes rising to around $725,000. “Because of the desirability, properties that are priced right move quickly off the market,” Harris saRidgewood Park and the Midtown Miracle Community Garden
While the green space at Atlantic Avenue and East 66th Street intersection has been there for more than 80 years, it never had a name. However, in February of 2022, it was announced as Ridgewood Park. The park spans several city blocks and is an open green space with a playground and stand-alone swing set at the Atlantic Avenue end. Residents can also volunteer at the Midtown Miracle Community Garden, dedicated to growing herbs and vegetables for America’s Second Harvest Food Bank of Coastal Georgia, to help prepare healthy foods for children through the Kids Café.Learning in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System
Children are districted in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, which scores a B on Niche and serves almost 36,000 students, making it the 10th largest district in Georgia. The neighborhood's school path is JG Smith Elementary, Myers Middle, and Beach High School. On Niche, the elementary school scores a B-plus, the middle school earns a C-minus and the high school grades a C. While JG Smith is walkable for most students, Beach High is one of two district schools that offer the Medical and Allied Health Professions Program.
