Rotterdam is a place where residents can put down roots, just 16 miles north of Albany. Even though it's one of the largest municipalities of Schenectady County, Rotterdam still has a small-town sensibility. From Little League to skiing
Baseball has deep roots in Rotterdam, and it begins with the community's children. Residents gather to watch Little Leaguers slug it out at Carman Park on the east side of town. The park also has a playground for the little ones not interested in the sport. Interesting extracurriculars in Schalmont District
Children in the Town of Rotterdam may attend the Schalmont Central School District schools, such as Jefferson Elementary School, which has a B from Niche. Students may advance to Schalmont Middle School, which has a B, before advancing to B-plus-rated Schalmont High School. Both schools offer many extracurriculars such as bowling, Jazz and engineering. The University of Albany is a public college that was founded in 1844.

Regal Colonie Center is where residents go for blockbuster films, while Rivers Casino and Resort is where they visit to have a good time while gambling with friends. Neighborhood garage sales, festivals, and get-togethers are typical activities in this bedroom community. Locals can drive five minutes to Schenectady to attend festivals and events, such as the celebrated Greek Festival with its dance performances and tasty foods.
