Schriever families outside Thibodaux
While Schriever is only about 5 miles from Downtown Thibodaux, it feels removed from the city. Homes are often clustered together, surrounded by acres of undeveloped land that helps create a quiet atmosphere. “A lot of it is family land,” says Kelli Guidry, a broker with eXp Realty. “You may have generations living on one track of land.” These families run many businesses in Schriever, such as Singleton Seafood. Residents frequently make the trip to Thibodaux, whether going to the grocery store, eating a nice dinner or visiting the museum.

A mix of homes and prices
Oak and cypress trees dot the grassy lawns of Schriever. Wide driveways split off the roads, often leaving room for street parking. While newer homes have garages, most of the older properties have carports. “It’s really a hod-podge,” Guidry says. “You have some homes that are newly built, super modern, but you have plenty more that are smaller, more quaint.” The older, mid-to-late 20th-century homes include cottages, ranch styles and Acadian houses. There are also a lot of new traditional dwellings built after 2000, many featuring brick exteriors. Most prices for a two-to-three bedroom range from $125,000 to $300,000, while four-bedrooms cost $300,000 to $400,000. There are some manufactured homes, which can cost $155,000 to $175,000. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) says that Schriever has a relatively high risk of hurricanes and a relatively moderate risk of flooding. Flood insurance is required for anyone with a federally backed mortgage and is recommended for everyone.
