A suburban retreat in West Seattle

A leafy escape south of Downtown Seattle, Fairmount Park is a residential pocket that is in proximity to Elliott Bay. With views of the Olympic Mountains, proximity to Alaska Junction and Alki Beach, Fairmount Park is a sough-after West Seattle neighborhood with reputable schools and peaceful homes. “West Seattle is a peninsula surrounded by the waters, and this makes it one of the shining gems in Seattle real estate,” says Bill Reid, a broker at Windermere who is a lifelong Seattle resident and has been servicing the greater Seattle area for over 40 years. “Fairmount Park is a great destination neighborhood that’s close to the Alaska Junction, and access into the city is also extremely convenient.”

Eclectic residential homes in Fairmount Park

The single-family home layouts in Fairmount Park largely represent Craftsman cottages and bungalows, with split-levels and New Traditionals. Residential properties range from $550,000 to $1 million, and those with views of Puget Sound can climb to $1.5 million. Condos start around $300,000, and townhouses may go up to $900,000. “There is a big demand for West Seattle; home values are going up, and there is a shortage of inventory,” Reid says. “The housing stock is a whole mixed bag; you’ve got newer construction as well as Craftsman that date back to the early 1920s, with midcentury split-levels and townhouses, so there’s not just one style.”
