North Beacon Hill

Everybody asks about Pacific Tower
North Beacon Hill’s most noticeable landmark is the Pacific Tower. The Art Deco building is partially used as a medical center and previously housed Amazon’s corporate headquarters. “Everyone asks about it,” says Jim Pullin, managing broker at Skyline Properties. “Pacific Tower is an imposing structure visible from much of the city. It looks like an evil villain’s lair from a movie.”Eateries and businesses on Beacon Avenue
Beacon Avenue has many options when it comes to restaurants. For a traditional experience, Carnitas Michoacan serves up items like quesabirria tacos and Mexican pizza. Homer offers a four-course family feast, curated from the chef’s favorite dishes. "It's very Seattle-famous," says Pullin. The Station is a low-key hangout, popular for its coffee and vegan-friendly menu. Beacon Arts Street Fairs enliven the community; they are held monthly on Saturdays, May through September. El Centro de la Raza holds many cultural and educational events. Neighborhood grocery stores include Hilltop Red Apple and La Esperanza Mercado y Carniceria. For QFC supermarket and stores, including Lowes, residents head east to Rainier Avenue.North Beacon Hill homes built over a century
Rezoning by the city has alleviated density and lowered overall home prices. The lowest in price are condos, priced from about $300,000 to $500,000. Homes include a good supply of 1910-20s Craftsman bungalows as well as midcentury styles. Prices typically range from $625,000 to $900,000, and there are some sales over $1.2 million. Parts of the neighborhood have drastically changed over the past few years, with newly constructed buildings replacing teardowns. Newly constructed single-family homes and townhouses are priced from about $515,000 to $1.4 million, depending on the size.Beacon Hill Playfield, Jefferson Park, gardens
Community green spaces include places, such as Beacon Hill Playfield. From North Beacon Hill homes, it's about a mile to the shore of Lake Washington for Colman Beach and Mount Baker Beach. Jefferson Park is at the heart of the neighborhood, anchored by the community center, a public golf course, trails and sports fields. The Beacon Food Forest provides edible landscaping, has monthly Saturday work parties and hosts events such as the May Bloom Music Festival & Open House, with live music, a plant sale, and free food and art activities. Neighbors plant plots at community gardens Snoqualmie P-Patch and Beacon Bluff P-Patch. The city's P-Patches have lengthy wait lists.Language immersion at Beacon Hill International
Public schools include Kimball Elementary, with a B grade from Niche. Beacon Hill International Elementary, A-minus, offers three language immersion programs: English, Spanish and Mandarin. The pipeline may also include Washington Middle, A; and Mercer International Middle, A-minus. Franklin High, A-minus, is listed by Niche as the No. 1 standout high school in Washington.I-90 bridge connects Eastside
Bus service is available, and Sound Transit's light rail service is accessible at Beacon Hill Station. The refillable ORCA cards work on Seattle's public transportation and are widely used. Interstates 5 and 90 top off North Beacon Hill. Heading east, drivers use the I-90 bridge, an Eastside connector, which hits Mercer Island and leads to Bellevue and Interstate 405. It's about an 11-mile drive to Sea-Tac, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
