Shoreline Community College is a centerpiece in Highland Terrace with over 100 programs and an attractive campus attended by around 8,500 students. The college also hosts a variety of events. We have a lot of community events, and we have easy transportation now that we have the light rail," says Angela Elliott, Recreation Specialist for the city of Shoreline.Highland Terrace is a car-dependent neighborhood, though served by multiple bus systems: the King County Metro, Sound Transit, and Community Transit. King County's RapidRide line takes passengers to downtown Seattle. Interstate 5 is the area's central expressway. The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is around 24 miles south of Highland Terrace.
Aurora Avenue provides fine dining options
Dining options surround Highland Terrace, and Aurora Avenue is lined with shops and restaurants. Saltoro is an American eatery with patio seating and a romantic atmosphere. Aurora Borealis serves an all-day brunch in an ambient pub that features live music and a popular happy hour. Aurora Square is a community staple for this neighborhood, anchored by Town & Country Market, a premier supermarket with a seafood and organic produce selection. Safeway is another option on Aurora Avenue. The Shoreline Farmers Market, also on Aurora Avenue, is on Saturday mornings from June to October, with organic meat, fruit and baked goods.
