Sikeston lies atop the “Missouri Bootheel,” midway between Memphis and St. Louis. This city of 16,000 offers a blend of tradition and opportunity, says Hunter Williams, a Realtor with Century21 Ashland Realty. “With its thriving job market, strong schools, and vibrant community life, Sikeston is a place where you can live, work, and celebrate life in all its unique ways,” Williams says.
This city’s 18th and 19th-century charm shines through in its historic homes and cobblestone downtown streets. Homes in downtown Sikeston feature late 19th century and early 20th century styles, including Victorian and Colonial Revival, built when the town prospered from cotton production. The cozy, small-town atmosphere attracts families, professionals and retirees seeking a quieter, slower, more affordable lifestyle. When the urge hits for big-city amenities, St. Louis and Memphis are a 2-hour drive away. “The best way I can sum up Sikeston is almost everybody knows everybody, and if you’re looking for a town that has room to grow and plenty of opportunities to be able to know people and feel loved, Sikeston’s the place you want to be,” Brody Patrick, a Realtor with McDonald Realty, says.
Major employers include Unilever, SoutheastHEALTH, Sikeston Public Schools and Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Factory Outlet Mall brings brand-name stores
When people can’t find what they’re looking for at downtown shops, the Factory Outlet Mall or Walmart, they drive to Cape Girardeau, 30 miles away. Sikeston has plenty of fast food restaurants and newer places to eat downtown but will always stay true to mainstays like Kirby’s Sandwich Shop and Lambert’s Café, home of the throwed rolls. As in, waitstaff throws rolls to customers upon request.
