Dense woods and gentle hills define the streetscape in Smithfield. According to Ken Scotti, a broker associate with Re/Max Properties with 22 years of experience selling in the area, “West of Interstate 295, it’s more rural, and homes are spread out. For $500,000 to $700,000, buyers can expect four-bedroom Colonial-Revival or four-square homes with modern interiors on half an acre or more. These properties might back up to Capron or Georgiaville Pond, giving some residents waterfront access.

A community coming to fruition
"In the fall, Smithfield residents love apple picking,” says Scotti. “There are tons of farms for it.” One option is Steere Orchard on Austin Avenue, which offers apple picking from August to October and peach picking in August and September. The orchard also has a farm stand, selling apples, pumpkins, baked goods and more. During the holiday season, the town hosts their annual All Lit Up Christmas parade, where festive floats and walkers travel from Smithfield High School to the Village Green to light the Christmas tree.
