A rural airpark community near Fall City
Set in the Snoqualmie River Valley about 27 miles from Seattle, Spring Glen is a rural haven for pilots and nature lovers. Most of the community surrounds a private airpark, but “most people don’t even care about the fact that it’s an airpark,” says Stephen Saunders, a managing broker with Marketplace Sotheby’s International Realty who’s sold homes in the area for over 30 years. “They just love the area and the size of the lots. It’s a little bit removed, and there’s a great sense of community.” The Cascade Mountains are visible from most homes, and the Snoqualmie River is in the community’s south. The overall CAP Index crime score is 1 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4. Fall City and Snoqualmie are within 10 minutes, where local kids can attend highly rated schools.

Hiking, biking and flying the Snoqualmie Valley
Some residents choose to live in Spring Glen for its access to the Spring Glen Airstrip. “There’s definitely a crowd here whose hobby is recreational flying,” Saunders says. “You can just drive your plane down the street. In fact, they have the right of way.”The Snoqualmie River in Fall City is a hot spot for tubing in the summer, and the Snoqualmie Pass in the nearby Cascade Mountains is known for its ski resorts. Spring Glen is around the midpoint of the 32-mile paved Snoqualmie Valley Trail, which stretches the length of the Valley. The public Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course sits just west of the airstrip.
Craftsman-style homes with Cascade Mountain views
Spring Glen’s narrow country roads wind around pastures, lavender farms and woodlands. Many homes here have a Craftsman aesthetic, and while some were built as early as the 1920s, most are from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Most have mountain views and sit on up to 2 acres, where backyard gardens and chicken coops are common. Homes in the Spring Glen Estates subdivision have access to the Snoqualmie River and the airstrip. “There are airport rights that come with each house, and you’re allowed to sell those rights,” Saunders says. Some homeowners have personal airplane hangars at their houses, and many rent a space in the community hangar. Homes here hardly hit the market, but three sold within the past year. Prices ranged from around $700,000 to $2 million, depending on size. One manufactured home sold in the area for $45,000.
