Rural river town along the Wisconsin-Minnesota border
Sitting along the Wisconsin-Minnesota border is the rural town of Somerset, established in 1856. Known as the “Inner Tubing Capital of the World,” the community is bordered by the Saint Croix River to the west, and flowing through the area is the Apple River. Historically, the rivers contributed to the town’s logging industry and mills. They functioned as highways for fur traders, loggers and explorers. Today, they’re a significant source of local fun. Country living is on the table in this town, with people enjoying river access and views of farm fields. Hobby farms are popular in the area, with many residents keeping horses and llamas. You’ll also find large farms in the area, growing crops and keeping cattle.
Large lot sizes and contemporary homes dominate Somerset
Large homes on lots with plenty of acreage make up the majority of this town. Craftsman-style homes, contemporary estates, private farmhouse retreats, ranch-style homes and sprawling mansions comprise the area, with home prices ranging from $174,000 to $1.17 million.
