While there are some single-family housing options in Magoun Square, the vast majority of homes are condos and other types of apartment units. High marks for Somerville schools and proximity to top universities

For coffee lovers, the 24-hour Dunkin’ on Broadway is a neighborhood staple. Shopping in Magoun Square is equally varied, with convenience stores like CVS and K-2 Market, boutique shops such as Status Boutique and Nimba Clothing, and specialty stores. The neighborhood also features local art galleries like Vernon Street Studios and Bruce Myren Studio, which showcase the community’s creative component. Assembly Square Marketplace and the Assembly Row outlet mall are less than 2 miles from Magoun Square and are home to a range of national clothiers like American Eagle and J. Magoun Square offers walkability and MBTA public transit options

This area is a haven for commuters and public transit options; in addition to high walkability and bikeable streets, Magoun Square station offers direct access into Downtown Boston via the MBTA Green Line. The next closest station, Ball Square station, is less than half a mile away. The MBTA operates bus routes 80 and 89 through the neighborhood. Interstate 93, also called the Northern Expressway, runs less than a mile northeast of Magoun Square. The combination of highways, commuter rails and buses can elevate the neighborhood’s noise levels, particularly during rush hour. Boston Logan International Airport is a 6-mile drive away, while Somerville Hospital and its 24-hour emergency department sit just outside the neighborhood.
