Lincoln Way is an established South Bend neighborhood with an urban vibe. Just 3 miles from downtown, the community has easy access to shopping, dining and parks. Lincoln Way has featured different architectural styles over the years. High school offers a variety of extracurricular activities
Lincoln Way is served by the South Bend Community School Corporation, which permits enrolled students to change schools. Young people can start their education at Coquillard Elementary School and move on to Dickinson Intermediate Fine Arts Academy, both of which have C-minus grades from Niche. Washington High School has a B-minus and offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including a debate club, a drama club and ceramics.

Helping those in need
Unity Gardens is a non-profit organization that provides freshly grown produce to those in need. The organization's mission is to improve community health by increasing the accessibility of fruits and vegetables and providing education on nutrition and food preparation. Volunteers and staff plant and care for the gardens, and folks from the community are invited to come out to harvest. "The garden is open to everyone, and we don't require proof of economic status," Steward says. "This is a uniquely dignified way to provide for the disadvantaged," says Sara Stewart, founder and CEO of Unity Gardens. The organization holds events and classes, has a store and recruits volunteers. Nearby Imani Unidad offers counseling, education and advocacy to enhance the social and mental well-being of marginalized individuals in the South Bend community.
The Unity Garden is a community gardening plot open to all residents of Lincoln Way.

Easy access to major employers
Honeywell Aerospace and the University of Notre Dame are major employers, while the historic Lincoln Highway (U.S. Route 20) runs through the center of the neighborhood, taking commuters to their downtown jobs.
