South Ogden

Neighbors in South Ogden enjoy living within arms’ reach of Downtown and the Wasatch Mountains, but they also like the personal space that short distance offers and prefer to live in a primarily residential city. The prestigious McKay-Dee Hospital sits one mile east, serves as a Level II Trauma Center and ranks as an IBM Watson Top 100 Hospital. South Ogden is also one mile from Weber State University, where thousands of students obtain higher education through more than 225 academic and graduate programs. The central point to Northern Utah’s main attractions, South Ogden allows residents to live peaceful, uninterrupted lives at home without compromising convenience.

Colorful padding keeps kids from skinning their knees if they trip while darting between all the unique climbing structures; From tunnels and rock walls to rope ladders and climbing towers, kids can easily spend a few hours running around here. Utah is known to reach triple digits during the summer. Cool off at the Nature Park splash pad and spend rainy days inside the Ogden Athletic Club. Residents seeking an exclusive experience can explore memberships at the Ogden Golf and Country Club.

Cross off your shopping list at Fresh Market, a Utah grocery chain, or drive east for one mile and reach Costco and Newgate Mall. You’ll find multiple local favorite eateries in South Ogden. Maria’s Mexican Restaurant is run by a family who moved to the US from San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The owners grew up cooking and worked in several US restaurants before opening Maria’s. Try one of Maria’s Signature Items, like the Carmones Rancheros: shrimp smothered in homemade ranchera sauce with peppers and grilled onions. Satisfy your sweet tooth at Mountain Donuts, where you get to create your donut. Choose from various kinds of glaze, toppings and drizzle; gluten-free and vegan options are also available.

A pickleball tournament and family night usher in the two-day annual South Ogden Days. The second day of this summer festival is jam-packed from early morning to late at night, starting with the parade. Next, gaze upon vintage vehicles at the Ogden Midnight Runners Car Show, and then snag your seat or step into the spotlight at the talent show -- a concert and fireworks display and cap off another memorable South Ogden Days.

South Ogden sits unassumingly below Ogden, but this residential city still has much to offer people seeking a bit of balance. Neighbors enjoy being out and about – they just prefer living in a suburban environment.
