Wadsworth Hills
From ranch-style to Colonial Revival
A combination of ranch-style and tri-level homes are the primary options in Wadsworth Hills. Potential buyers might occasionally see a Colonial Revival house dotted along the streets as well. Many homes have been built on uneven terrain because of the neighborhood’s hilly nature, and there is no shortage of foliage, making the modest-sized lots feel more secluded. Because Wadsworth Hills was developed in the 1960s, many houses have additional potential to increase value through basic upgrades. With house prices ranging from $170,000 to $300,000, Porter says, “Homes tend to sell fast. They don’t stay on the market long, especially if they're in good condition. We’re not experiencing extended days on the market." While the nearby Interstate 26 does create some noise, it doesn’t reach the residential areas thanks to the buffer created by the neighborhood’s retail section, which takes up roughly half of Wadsworth Hills. More than half of residents are renters, with close to twice as many apartments in the neighborhood compared to the number of homes.Nearby college opportunities
Students in this neighborhood attend Jesse S. Bobo Elementary, which received a C-plus rating from Niche, before filtering into Fairforest Middle School, which received a B-minus rating from Niche. At Dorman High School, which received an A-minus rating from Niche, students will be separated by two campuses, one for freshmen and the other for 10th through 12th graders. Students interested in athletics will have plenty of opportunities to compete at a high level. The boys’ basketball, cross country, track and volleyball teams have won state titles within the last five years. Nearby colleges include Spartanburg Methodist College, Spartanburg Community College, Wofford College and Converse University.
Downtown Spartanburg just 4 miles east
Wadsworth Hills’ prime location near Interstate 26 makes it an ideal neighborhood for those who want a suburban life while still being connected to the metropolitan amenities of Downtown Spartanburg, located just 4 miles east.Chain restaurants and grocery options
Wadsworth Hills sits between two popular shopping centers off Interstate 26, WestGate Mall to the west and The Dorman Centre to the south. Residents can grab a new book to read at the Barnes & Noble or browse the racks at Ross and T.J. Maxx. Lowe’s Home Improvement, The Home Depot, Walmart and ALDI provide home and grocery staples options. There are many chain restaurants around The Dorman Center, including Red Crab Juicy Seafood and LongHorn Steakhouse. WestGate Mall serves as a shopping hub for most of the Spartanburg area because it has national retailers like Belk and H&M. Wadsworth Hills residents can get there in less than 5 minutes by simply crossing over West Blackstock Road.Walk to the pocket park
At the small community pocket park off St. Matthews Lane, kids can walk or ride their bikes to play on the playground in the small green space. Larger parks with more amenities are within reach. Porter says, “The parks in Spartanburg are strategically placed so people can reach somewhere like the Tyger River Park or Duncan Park within 20 minutes.” For an indoor experience, find high-flying action at the Big Air Trampoline Park. The entertainment venue is packed with trampoline dodgeball courts, foam pits, launch pads and a climbing wall.
