Dense forests and farmland surround the growing Fayetteville suburb of Spout Springs. This Harnett County community of about 11,000 people sits less than 20 miles north of the United States' largest military base, Fort Bragg, making it a popular choice for military families and retirees. “You get here, and you get stuck,” says Andrea Williams, a Realtor with eXp Realty who moved in from Fayetteville more than five years ago. “It started as a vacation home and it became our permanent residence,” says Williams, who adds that the ruralness of Spout Springs gives it a small-town feel. It’s mostly residential. “We have some stores, a few restaurants and close-knit families.” Along with Fort Bragg, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center is another large employer.
