Spring Lake Heights is a sought-after borough on the Jersey shore
In Spring Lake Heights, a small Jersey shore borough, you get the best of both worlds: living minutes from the beach year-round in a quaint, walkable town. Golf courses, country clubs and popular eateries are within a short distance, making this a highly sought-after community with top-rated schools. Those dreaming of living near the ocean year-round without the hustle and bustle of summer tourists and busy boardwalks can find their perfect home in Spring Lake Heights.
Single-family homes, condos and townhomes within golfing communities
Two golf courses, Spring Lake Golf Club and Fairway Mews Community & Golf Club, split the neighborhood. "Fairway Mews is a community of a little more than 500 townhomes or ranch styles built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It's very desirable," says Michael Skea, a broker associate at Ward Wight Sotheby's International Realty and a Spring Lake Heights resident. Folks at Fairway Mews reside among an 18-hole executive golf course, an outdoor pool, tennis courts and a clubhouse. You'll find Cape Cods, colonials and ranch-style homes on neighborhood streets. "The prices in nearby Spring Lake have gotten so high that Spring Lake Heights is now more desirable," Skea says. You can find a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo for $599,000, another two-bedroom and two-bath condo in the popular Fairway Mews community for $624,000, a three-bedroom, three-bathroom single-family home for $985,000 or a 13-room colonial estate for $1.3 million.
Highly regarded public schools score in the A range
"Young families are attracted to both Spring Lake Heights and neighboring Spring Lake because of the exemplary school districts," Skea says. Kids can attend Spring Lake Heights Elementary School from kindergarten through eighth grade before enrolling at the regional Manasquan High School. Spring Lake Heights Elementary has an overall A rating on Niche, including an A-plus for teachers and an A for academics. Students can also attend a magnet high school in the Monmouth County Vocational School District.
Popular local restaurants serving classic pub food and other dishes
Hoffman's Ice Cream is a beloved Spring Lakes Heights institution, known for the Jersey monkey cone (banana ice cream with a peanut butter swirl and chocolate chips). St. Stephen's Green Public House, a traditional Irish pub, has potato pancakes and lamb sliders for starters, along with Irish bread and butter pudding for dessert. The Spring Lake Tap House is a popular sports bar that serves lunch, dinner and brunch. At Jose's Mexican Restaurant, a little hole-in-the-wall eatery, locals can order authentic Mexican food like fresh guacamole, burritos and quesadillas
Golf course, beachfront recreation and local neighborhood playgrounds
Besides amenities at Spring Lake Golf Club and Fairway Mews Community & Golf Club, including two 18-hole courses, residents live minutes from Spring Lake Beach, where they can spend the warm summer days in the salt air. The nearby Ocean Road Park features soccer fields, as well as tennis and basketball courts, while Joseph E. Robertson Park offers playgrounds.
