In Spring Lake Heights, a small Jersey shore borough, you get the best of both worlds: living minutes from the beach year-round in a quaint, walkable town.

Two golf courses Spring Lake Golf Club and Fairway Mews Community & Golf Club, split the neighborhood. "Fairway Mews is a community of a little more than 500 townhomes or ranch styles built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It's very desirable," says Michael Skea, a broker associate at Ward Wight Sotheby's International Realty and a Spring Lake Heights resident. At Fairway Mews reside among an 18-hole executive golf course, an outdoor pool, tennis courts and a clubhouse. You'll find Cape Cods, colonials and ranch-style homes on neighborhood streets. "The prices in nearby Spring Lake have gotten so high that Spring Lake Heights is now more desirable," Skea says. You can find a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo for $599,000, another two-bedroom and two-bath condo in the popular Fairway Mews community for $624,000, a three-bedroom, three-bathroom single-family home for $985,000 or, a 13-room colonial estate for $1.3 million.

"Young families are attracted to both Spring Lake Heights and neighboring Spring Lake because of the exemplary school districts," Skea says. Kids can attend Spring Lake Heights Elementary School for kindergarten through eighth grade before enrolling at the regional Manasquan High School. Spring Lake Heights Elementary has an overall A rating on Niche, including an A+ for teachers and an A for academics. Students can also attend a magnet high school in the Monmouth County Vocational School District.

Besides living minutes from Spring Lake Beach, where you can spend the warm summer days in the salt air as your skin glistens from the sun and ocean water, you can spend the day at a neighborhood park or going out to eat. The only way to properly spoil your dinner is by enjoying homemade ice cream from the iconic Hoffman's Ice Cream. This beloved Spring Lakes Heights institution is the place to be on summer nights. You'll race to finish a cone of traditional chocolate ice cream or a Jersey monkey cone (banana ice cream with a peanut butter swirl and chocolate chips) before the ice cream drips onto your hands. Whether you have ice cream before or after dinner, check out St. Stephen's Green Publick House for a meal. This traditional Irish pub has potato pancakes and lamb sliders for starters, either bangers and mash, fish and chips, or a whole rack of lamb for your entrée, and Irish bread and butter pudding for dessert. Or, enjoy a cold one at the Spring Lake Tap House, a popular sports bar that serves lunch, dinner and brunch. Order beer-battered mozzarella sticks, sliders and flatbreads. At Jose's Mexican Restaurant, a little hole-in-the-wall eatery, order authentic Mexican food like fresh guacamole, burritos and quesadillas. Play a game of tennis, soccer or basketball at Ocean Road Park, or play tennis at Joseph E. Robertson Park as your kids play on the playground.

If you dream of living near the ocean year-round without the hustle and bustle of summer tourists and busy boardwalks, find your perfect home in Spring Lake Heights.

We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process. Worst town I have ever lived in, do not recommend at all. Some of the rudest and nastiest people I have ever met in my life seem to exclusively live in this town not to mention how all the towns politics keep anything from getting done. Daily reminder that the houses in this town a dumps and not even worth half the price they are asking.
