Old and new bayside single-family homes
Houses are set back from the street on broad, spacious properties bordered by tall trees. Some areas are home to custom-built modern farmhouses built in tandem with their neighbors as part of a local development, and others have older houses constructed separately. Older houses are often bungalow and ranch styles. Houses here range in price from $350,000 to $750,000, depending on the house’s build year and size. Most houses that are part of a recent development are priced between $700,000 and $750,000. “The Western Shores area, including Port Republic, is one of many desired Chesapeake Bay beach communities on the western shore of Maryland,” says Gail Siegal, a realtor with O’Brien Realty at the Solomons office in nearby Solomons, Maryland. “This area has beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay and is commuter-friendly for people from Washington, D.C.”
