Residential atmosphere with walkability
When describing the eastern Stamford community of Springdale, Todd Auslander says, “I like to call it a ‘trick-or-treating’ type of neighborhood, where it has the kind of streets that go from one house right to the next. People can easily ride a bike or walk down the street.” Auslander, partner at the Auslander Kasindorf Team at Keller Williams Prestige Properties and a 23-year veteran of the local real estate market, adds that Stamford is one of the more affordable commuter hubs north of New York City, so Springdale’s train station is a significant asset. Residents enjoy a laidback lifestyle, where they can walk to public green spaces and get involved with their neighborhood association while staying close to theaters and restaurants in downtown Stamford.
Colonial homes and condos in the NYC suburbs
Offices and commercial businesses line Hope Street, the walkable commercial corridor that goes north-south through Springdale. However, most houses are on quiet, tree-lined residential streets. “It’s predominantly single-family homes, but there is a mix of condos and multi-family properties as well,” Auslander says. Condos were built in the mid-to-late 20th century, ranging from brick high-rises to smaller townhouses with vinyl siding. Prices for condos vary depending on size, but they generally fluctuate between $200,000 and $500,000. Colonials and bungalows from the early 1900s and Cape Cods and ranches from the mid-1900s sit close together on residential streets. These single-family homes are priced between $500,000 and $800,000.
