Commuter haven with neat homes
Residents of Parkwoods exit off Interstate 5 and navigate through the suburban streets lined with sidewalks and cars parked beside curbs. Homes are cozied up next to each other, with tall trees shading driveways and decorative shrubs accenting manicured lawns. “A lot of families are beginning to move into the area for neighborhoods like Parkwoods,” says Shelly Bergman, a Stockton local and nearby school secretary. “The houses are affordable and well-kept, we’re close to great schools, and things stay pretty quiet despite being so near the highway.” Shops and eateries are a quick drive away, and more action in downtown Stockton is just 7 miles south.
Manicured lawns adorning ranch houses
Parkwoods’ residential roads connect primarily ranch-style and raised ranch homes with Craftsman influences, some with exposed brick features and others with stucco exteriors. Many of these 1,500- to 2,500-square-foot single-family homes boast multicar garages and driveways, with sizeable fenced-in backyards. Some dwellings have been fully renovated, while others are ready for that special touch. Prices for these residences typically range between $400,000 and $650,000. “Stockton may have gotten a bad reputation in the past, but the town is truly bouncing back. And the subdivisions in Parkwoods show that,” Bergman notes.
Local eats at Lincoln Center
Parkwoods sits close to some of the town’s biggest shopping centers. "The Lincoln Center off Pacific Avenue is a prime location for upscale shopping and dining," says Kinzi Alves, a Realtor at California Elite Realty. "Podesto’s is an elevated Italian-focused grocer comparable to Whole Foods." She adds, "And Market Tavern has an awesome vibe, a great spot for food and drinks." Hammer Lane is brimming with restaurants, from Indian cuisine at Tandoori Nites to a New York slice at Dave’s Pizza. Nearby are several grocery markets, the popular ones being Safeway and Save Mart. For even more retail options, Weberstown Mall is a bit further south.
Hole-in-one at Swenson Park
Swenson Park Golf Course is located in the southern half of Parkwoods, complete with an 18-hole fairway, a disc golf course and a driving range. The public course hosts several tournaments for locals and visitors, and avid golfers in Stockton view this course as one of the best in the area for both championship-level players and beginners.
Attending Lincoln Unified schools
Students living in Parkwoods can begin at the local John R. Williams Elementary School, which Niche grades a C-plus. Sierra Middle School, which receives a B grade from Niche, sits across from the Swenson Park Golf Course and shares its campus with Lincoln High School. Niche gives this high school an A-minus grade and ranks it in the top 5% of best high schools for athletes in California.
EventsCommunity events at Gibbons Park
On the north side of Parkwoods on the other side of Hammer Lane, community members gather at Gibbons Park for various events and fundraisers. Children enjoy the park’s nautical-themed playground, and both novice checkers players and grandmasters sit for a game at the outdoor chessboard. Dog parents take their furry friends to Barkleyville Dog Park, located a bit further south on the interstate.
Cruising into Stockton via I-5
Interstate 5 runs along the west side of town, leading right into downtown Stockton in just 7 miles. Several San Joaquin RTD bus stops are peppered throughout the west side. "Stockton also has its own airport, Stockton Metropolitan Airport, which offers more affordable flights through Allegiant Airlines," Alves adds.
