About 3 miles in the other direction, Park West Place is north Stockton’s shopping destination, featuring a Target and Walmart Supercenter. Thornton Road is Stonewood’s major thoroughfare, connecting residents to shopping centers and downtown Stockton, just 6.8 miles away. The Buddhist Church of Stockton sponsors Taste of Obon, a Japanese cultural festival featuring traditional tea ceremonies, dances, and excellent Japanese food. Concerts in the Park occurs every Wednesday evening in Victory Park, where locals gather on the lawn and listen to local musicians perform.
