About Strongsville, OH

Strongsville attracts Cleveland commuters and families

Strongsville offers a suburban atmosphere rich in family-friendly resources 20 miles outside of Cleveland. A diverse housing landscape and acres of public parks encircle the heart of the city, which has shopping centers, a major mall and a town center for community events. Children here attend highly rated schools in the Strongsville City School District. Though many people commute to Cleveland or Akron for work, Strongsville has an extensive manufacturing presence across four commercial parks. The city sees all four seasons, from warm and humid summers to chilly winters featuring lake-effect snow. Strongsville has entertainment regardless of weather, with forested parkland for hiking and mountain biking in warmer months or sledding in the winter. In the summer, the city puts on large-scale community events, including a homecoming festival. “I've seen a lot of people come back to Strongsville to raise their own families or establish their businesses here," says Lauren Terzigni, a Realtor with Re/Max Crossroads Properties who grew up in Strongsville.

Celebrating community at the Strongsville Homecoming Festival

Strongsville is “a community people want to return to,” Terzigni says. “There's a ton to do, and yet it retains its small-town feel through events like Homecoming and the Rib Burnoff.” Each year, locals gather on the Commons — a grassy gathering space at Pearl and Royalton roads — for the Strongsville Homecoming Festival. The event features carnival rides, live music and fireworks over four days in July. The Rib Burnoff is another summertime tradition drawing cooks from across the country to serve barbecue and compete for the title of Best Ribs. Local bands provide a musical backdrop to the multi-day festival.
