Suitland - Silver Hill is a modest suburb on D.C.'s doorstep
Suitland—Silver Hill offers affordable suburban postwar-era homes close to shopping centers in Prince George's County to the east and the nation's capital to the west. “Commuting is big for this area. It’s close to D.C. for federal employees and there are a lot of folks who work locally at the Federal Center here,” say Steve and Ida Belinky, real estate agents with RE/MAX United Real Estate, who each have over 40 years of experience serving Maryland. “The Suitland Metro station is right by the center as well.” Commuters can reach Washington, D.C., in about half an hour by car or Metro, or by walking to several major government employers around the community.
Decades-old single-family homes, townhouse rows and condos
Buyers can find bilevels, Cape Cods, brick ramblers and open-porch bungalows along narrow suburban streets. Many garden-style condo units and townhouses, mostly built after World War II, are also available. “There are a lot of new housing options for people who don’t want a single-family house, and the shopping convenience can be appealing for the younger crowd,” says Ida Belinky. Suitland—Silver Hill homes range from $90,000 to $600,000, with condos at the bottom of the price range, townhouses in the middle, and single-family homes at the higher end. “The homes are more affordable compared to a lot of Prince George’s County, and even compared to Southeast D.C., across the border,” says Steve Belinky.
