A small town surrounded by alpine forests and mountains

Summit Park is an alpine town nestled in a valley between rolling, evergreen-covered mountains east of Salt Lake City. Residents enjoy a rural lifestyle, beautiful views and easy access to some of the most sought-after outdoor recreation in the country. It’s 12 miles from Park City, the largest ski and winter sports area in the United States. “It’s a beautiful setting in the mountains with gorgeous views, and yet you’re right down the road from basketball games, dining and everything else in Salt Lake City,” says Realtor Julie Hopkins of Keller Williams Realty. Home to around 8,700 residents, the community has steadily grown over the last couple decades, propelled by the region’s explosive economic growth.

Hiking, winter sports and a country club

Summit Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. At the center of town is Woodward Park City, a winter sports complex with skiing, snowboarding, tubing and a year-round indoor sports facility. It’s right next door to the Jeremy Ranch Golf & Country Club, which offers gorgeous views of the surrounding greenery from its 18-hole course and clubhouse. The town is home to a maze of hiking and biking trails that extend out into the surrounding mountains. “There are extensive trail systems, including trails that take you all the way to Park City,” Hopkins says. Park City’s famous ski slopes are about 20 minutes away by car. The city is famous for hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Cold, snowy winters and mild summers

Summit Park experiences cold snowy winters, getting more than 15 feet annually. Residents can expect to spend some time shoveling snow out of their front walkways and driveways. Roadways are taken care of by local governments and snow removal businesses. The summertime is typically mild, with the town’s elevation and mountainous locale shielding it from the heat.
