Country living 10 miles from Sumter
Privateer's desirable acreages and oak-lined farmlands allow residents to enjoy the peace of a rural community just 10 miles from downtown Sumter. "It's very rural here — there's a lot of farmland and oak drives," says Realtor and broker Talmadge Tobias with RE/MAX Summit. Tobias has spent the last 19 years selling homes and was a Sumter city manager for 39 years. "A lot of land is untouched, so it's like you can step back in time and travel the same roads our forefathers traveled. It's also near Highway 261, one of South Carolina's biggest routes during the American Revolution." While the community does have a deep country feel, it's close enough to Sumter that residents can still go shopping on Broad Street or attend beloved events like Oktoberfest on Main and the Iris Festival.
