Sunnyslope is a scenic suburb on the Columbia River
The aptly named Sunnyslope community sits on rolling hills above the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers. Just north of Wenatchee, this suburban area allows homeowners to experience the natural beauty of central Washington up close. “It has stellar views and high-end homes. Most of the lots are an acre-and-a-half to two-and-a-half acres,” says Emily Niles, a real estate agent with 10 years of experience with Properties NW. “You can spread out a little bit, and you get great views not only of the river but of the Enchantments and Mission Peak. You get to see everything.” Apple orchards line the riverbanks near Sunnyslope, comprising a significant part of the local economy. Hiking trails and state parks are within quick reach, allowing for outdoor recreation close to home. Wenatchee is a short drive across the river, making shopping and dining convenient from this hillside community.
Contemporary homes dot the Wenatchee Valley hillside
Development in Sunnyslope took off in the 1990s through the 2000s, and most homes reflect the times. New Traditional and contemporary Craftsman houses are common, often with attached garages and a mix of stone and wood exteriors. Some older homes exist in the area, typically 1960s and ‘70s ranch styles. Expansive custom estates are also common, often set on spacious lots and with backyard pools. Buyers can find lots that are up to 6 acres, and some have barns and stables for horses. The Cascade Mountains tower above the community to the west and are visible from some properties. Homes under 3,000 square feet typically sell for $490,000 to $950,000. Larger houses can cost between $830,000 and $1.75 million. The area has a high risk of wildfires; Chelan County recently updated its Community Wildfire Protection Plan.
