The picturesque neighborhood of Plantation Acres maintains a rural feel while still being connected to city amenities. This area of Plantation, named for efforts to establish a rice farm here in the early 1900s, was annexed by the city in the 1970s. An improvement district for the area was formed in the 1980s to maintain drainage infrastructure as the area grew. Horse enthusiasts gravitate to the area because of its wide-open spaces and undeveloped lots. "It's a place you can go in Plantation with no HOA and you can have livestock," says Tammy Fierce, broker associate with EXP Realty. "There are a lot of entrepreneurs and people who work from home. We have really great private schools in the area. It's where you raise your family when you're successful."
