The picturesque neighborhood of Plantation Acres maintains a rural feel while still being connected to city amenities. This area of Plantation, named for efforts to establish a rice farm here in the early 1900s, was annexed by the city in the 1970s. An improvement district for the area was formed in the 1980s to maintain drainage infrastructure as the area grew. Horse enthusiasts gravitate to the area because of its wide-open spaces and undeveloped lots. "It's a place you can go in Plantation with no HOA and you can have livestock," says Tammy Fierce, broker associate with EXP Realty. "There are a lot of entrepreneurs and people who work from home. We have really great private schools in the area. It's where you raise your family when you're successful."

With large lot sizes and unique designs, properties in Plantation Acres are often priced higher than other nearby sections of Broward County. Volunteer Park and the Plantation Equestrian Center
The neighborhood’s main green space is Volunteer Park, which has a community center and banquet hall, along with outdoor amenities like courts, educational playgrounds and auditory sculptures that react to wind and rain. Plantation High’s international diploma program
Students in Plantation Acres can attend Central Park Elementary School, which has an A-minus overall grade from Niche. Highways to the Everglades or Fort Lauderdale
Flamingo Road and Sunrise Boulevard are two of the main roads out of the area. Interstate 595, or the Port Everglades Expressway, forms the southern border of the neighborhood and leads to I-75 and through the Everglades to the west, and Fort Lauderdale to the east. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is about 15 miles away. The nearest hospital is HCA Florida Westside Hospital, about 5 miles away.
