Tallmadge is an Akron suburb defined by its historic eight-point traffic circle. "When you ask someone from Tallmadge what it's like, they're going to mention the circle," says Jim West, president of the Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce. The Tallmadge Circle connects the roughly 18,400 residents to shopping, dining, public services and community events. Each August, the Circle Festival and Light Parade attracts thousands to the center of town for a parade and a fireworks show in celebration of the city. On the circle's green, Tallmadge Historical Church was notably featured on the cover of Life magazine's 1944 Thanksgiving issue as an ideal example of a New England-style church. While Tallmadge has a pricier housing market than Akron, homebuyers are attracted to the community anyway for its highly rated school district and metro park access.
