Housing in Ballast Point comes in various shapes, sizes and price points. Mid-century bungalows on modest lots with a yard can cost between $400,000 and $570,000. Multi-level modern and contemporary builds typically range from $800,000 to $1.3 million. Modern mansions with several custom features, like a pool, usually range between $1.5 million and $8.5 million for an estate by the water. Townhouses start at around $500,000 for a two- or three-bedroom, while larger three- and four-bedroom luxury townhomes near the water can cost around $1 million dollars. Tall oak trees dot the neighborhood, and some areas have sidewalks. Street parking is limited. However, most homes have a driveway or garage.

Ballast Point Park sits next to Hillsborough Bay and is one of the neighborhood's major draws. "It has picturesque views and is a great place to take a memorable photo," says Lawrence Hollyfield, the communications coordinator with Tampa Parks and Recreation. Visitors head to the pier for fishing and views of the water with the Downtown Tampa skyline in the background. In addition to water activities, the park has several pavilions, gazebos and a playground. Bikers and runners enjoy the pathway along Bayshore Boulevard. At 4.5 miles, it is the longest continuous sidewalk in the world. "You can go for a run up along Bayshore, around the bay and just enjoy the spectacular views," says Hollyfield.

Seafood at Taste of Boston along the waterfront
Various restaurants and shops sit throughout Ballast Point. Taste of Boston is a relaxed waterfront restaurant near Ballast Point Park that offers New England-style seafood. Patrons rave about the lobster rolls and bang-bang shrimp. Taste of Boston is also a go-to for fishing bait and picnic snacks. Beccofino Italian Bistro serves homemade charcuterie, cheeses and authentic Italian food. "Beccofino Italian Bistro is popular for high-end cuisine, even though it's in a somewhat quirky house that they remodeled into a restaurant," Margliano says. Ballast Point students are part of the Hillsborough County Public School District. Students begin their education at Ballast Point Elementary, an A-minus graded school by Niche. Madison Middle School gets a B-minus and offers one of the premier STEM Aerospace Academy programs in the district. Robinson High School earns an A from Niche. The football program recently hired Mike Williams Sr., a former first-round pick in the National Football League, as the head coach. Williams led the team to its first 2M District championship in over a decade. Private school options include the Academy of Holy Names, which receives an A-plus from Niche.
