Convenient city living in south Tampa
South Tampa’s Palma Ceia Pines, minutes from busy business districts, attracts homebuyers with a dynamic urban vibe. “It’s an A-plus location with easy access to all the beautiful things there are to love about Tampa,” says Realtor Daven Henry of LPT Realty, who has over 10 years of real estate experience. “You’re close to the highways; very close to Bayshore Boulevard, the longest paved walkway in America; close to great bars and restaurants. And zoned to some of the best schools in the district. Everyone’s moving here for the location,” he says.
A mix of condos, townhomes and single-family homes
Towering, angular condo buildings and New Traditional townhomes are common, as are Modern Transitional and Craftsman single-family homes. “The low end is $200,000 and the top end is in the millions. It’s a wide, wide range in this area,” Henry says. Typically, though, condos sell for under $400,000, while single-family homes run anywhere from $650,000 to $2.5 million. Townhomes tend to fall in the middle range, depending on size and age. Flood risk is higher on the east side, closer to the bay, but low compared to Tampa’s waterfront neighborhoods.
Hyde Park and SoHo offer shopping, dining and entertainment
Hyde Park Village is an upscale shopping district about a mile away, full of boutiques, eateries and national brands, like Zimmermann, Pottery Barn and Sephora. There’s also a Fresh Market and a dine-in movie theater. SoHo, short for South Howard Avenue, is a trendy dining and nightlife district. “It’s a happening area, almost another downtown, where all the good bars and restaurants are,” Henry says. One of his favorites is Bern’s, a high-end steakhouse.
Highly rated Hillsborough County Public Schools
Mitchell Elementary receives an A and Wilson Middle earns an A-minus from Niche. Plant High, which gets an A-plus, is ranked first on Niche’s list of the county's best public high schools. The district offers open enrollment in the form of magnet programs at the elementary, middle and high levels. While there are no specialty programs available at Plant, other high HCPS high school magnets include International Baccalaureate and Collegiate Academy programs. Julia M. & Samuel L. Flom Religious School, affiliated with the Congregation Schaari Sedek synagogue on the neighborhood’s south side, is a private school for pre-K through ninth grades. It doesn’t have a Niche rating.
Near Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club, Bayshore Boulevard trail
Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club, Tampa’s oldest private golf club, is within a couple miles of most homes. Donald Ross designed the par 70 course in 1916. In 2012, Bobby Weed modernized it, winning Golf Inc.’s Renovation of the Year award. The club also has tennis courts, dining and event spaces. The Bayshore Boulevard Greenway is accessible about 2 miles east. The 4.5-mile paved trail is one of the longest continuous sidewalks in the country, following the Tampa Bay shoreline past historic homes in Old Hyde Park.
Tampa International, highways and HART bus stops close by
Tampa International Airport is about 4 miles away, a 10-minute drive with no traffic. Interstate 275, State Road 60, U.S. Route 92 and the Selmon Expressway surround the neighborhood, connecting around the metro. HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is within half a mile south of most homes, off Swann Avenue. Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority, or HART, buses pick up from stops on Swann and other main roads in and around the neighborhood.
