Westshore
Employment hotbed
"The majority of people who live in Westshore also work in Westshore," says Michael Maurino, Executive Director of Westshore Alliance, the district's chamber of commerce. More than 6,5000 businesses operate here—from startups to Fortune 500 companies. "The odds are, you're going to be able to find a good job because of all the industry," says Maurino. "And several places have blue-collar and white-collar jobs in the same space, like the airport." Westshore has more than $1 billion in private investments and several planned projects underway. Several hotels and venues feature premiere office and meeting spaces, featuring over 265,000 square feet of meeting space to accommodate small groups or large conferences.Shopping at Westshore Plaza and, International Plaza and Bay Street
Besito Mexican serves Mexican favorites like iron skillet tacos, quesadillas and a selection of cocktails and beers. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating with a water feature. Seasons 52 is an American restaurant known for its steak and seafood dishes along with its extensive wine menu. Donatello is a fine-dining Italian restaurant that serves various pasta and seafood dishes. Westshore has a variety of shopping options. Just north of the neighborhood is International Plaza and Bay Street. The outdoor mall includes Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Neiman Marcus and Tesla Motors. In the neighborhood is Westshore Plaza, an indoor mall offering more shopping and dining with stores that include Macy's, H&M, and Carter's OSHKOSH. There's a Publix just south of West Kennedy Boulevard for groceries and everyday essentials.Condominiums, townhouses and a variety of single-family homes
After a long workday, locals may not have to go far to kick off their shoes. "You can live in a single-family residence and have a Class A business space at the end of your block," says Maurino. The area's diverse housing portfolio includes apartments, condos, townhouses and single-family homes. Airport regulations mean there aren't any tall buildings, which also keeps multifamily housing less costly, says Maurino. Condominiums have sold for between $125,000 and $610,000, with HOA fees that range from $350 to $550. Bungalow and ranch-style homes are also popular and have sold for between $200,000 and $650,000. There are also new Spanish-style construction and contemporary townhouses with modern updates, such as hardwood flooring, crown molding and quartz counters. These have sold for between $300,000 and $830,000. New-build contemporary homes have gone for between $600,000 and $1.2 million. Westshore housing prices are competitive within the larger Tampa market, says Maurino. "Many South Tampa residents are being priced out of their homes, but Westshore has the same amenities and access, but housing is cheaper," Maurino says. As for crime, the CAP Index gave Westshore a Crime Score of 6 out of 10, higher than the national average.Beach access at Cypress Point Park
Westshore has plenty of outdoor recreation options. Locals often exercise along the Courtney Campbell Trail, a 10.5-mile-long waterfront pedestrian bridge that connects Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Cypress Point Park has beach access, nature trails, a playground and picnic pavilions.Sporting events and concerts at Raymond James Stadium
Nearby Raymond James Stadium and George M. Steinbrenner Field not only serve as sports facilities for football and baseball teams but also double as concert and event spaces, with headliners such as U2, Beyonce, Sting and Taylor Swift.Bordered by the Tampa International Airport
Although three major highways—Interstate 275, Memorial Highway and the North Dale Mabry Highway—surround Westshore, local transportation is Westshore's Achille's heel. The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) and Tampa Bay Regional Transit Authority (TBARTA) are poorly funded and not the most reliable or efficient, says Maurino. "Instead of taking the bus, people walk or ride bicycles to work because they find it's faster," he says. But things are changing. "Westshore Alliance was partly founded to solve transportation issues in the district. That's why we've made investments in walkability. We've done a lot of work with improving sidewalks and enhancing the pedestrian experience in the public realm," says Maurino. Fortunately, domestic and international flights are highly convenient for Westshore residents with Tampa International Airport forming Westshore's northern boundary and linking Westshore to the rest of the world. The nearest hospital is St. Joseph’s Hospital, 5 miles away.Students assigned to Hillsborough County Public Schools

Children in the district may attend Roland Park Magnet School from kindergarten through the eighth grade, which earns an A-minus grade from Niche. In ninth grade, students move on to B-graded Jefferson High School, which has extracurricular activities for students like Key Club and a Mock Trial Team. As for private school options, Beach Park School is in the neighborhood and serves pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Niche has not yet graded the school.
