A lively revitalization in Las Cruces

Just south of Downtown Temple and near a bustling research and medical district, the Las Cruces District blends a quiet, rural lifestyle with all the modern conveniences of big-city life just a stone’s throw away. With towering historic silos presiding over the area, the community was initially referred to as the “Silo District” until the summer of 2023 when the city released plans for the newly named area as part of its “Love Where you Live” neighborhood campaign to better reflect each of the city’s 18 planned neighborhood districts. his plan includes a revitalization effort for bike paths, upgrades to the district’s park, a centralized neighborhood plaza for local vendors and events, and a community center. An up-and-coming but tight-knit community, Las Cruces is ideal for those who want a peaceful, more affordable slice of southern hospitality while still being close to all the action.

Southern charm at affordable prices

The tree-lined, quiet neighborhood features single-family cozy bungalows, ranch-style homes and contemporary houses. Most homes were built in the 1950s, ranging from $140,000 to $190,000 – perfect for a starter home or those wanting to be near downtown without the higher price. The median price for a single-family home in Downtown Temple is $300,000. Newly constructed homes can be found in the Bruner subdivision, which offers more modern designs. Lots are adorned with mature trees, providing plenty of shade and tranquility. Yards are immaculately maintained with lush, spacious lawns and paved walkways.
