Sheridan Park offers quiet residential living less than 3 miles from downtown Terre Haute and Indiana State University. This primarily residential neighborhood is close to some of the city’s biggest employers and Terre Haute North Vigo High School. “It’s been built up over the years and has become a good neighborhood with yards and homes that are more spread out,” says Cy Marlow, a 40-year resident of Terre Haute and principal broker and Realtor of L.J. Michaels Inc. “It’s close to everything but it feels more like a subdivision.”

Single-story homes that rarely hit the market
Sidewalks line most streets and mature trees dot the neighborhood. There’s a mix of midcentury bungalows, Cape Cods and ranch-style homes, some with attached or detached garages. Homes in Sheridan Park rarely come on the market, but there was a $75,000 sale in 2025. According to a Homes.com calculation, which uses a combination of estimate data, the average home value in the neighborhood was about $93,000 in April 2025.

Juniors and seniors can take CTE courses
Kids may attend Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, graded C by Niche, before heading to Woodrow Wilson Middle School, which receives a C-plus. Terre Haute North Vigo High School, B, has an enrollment of more than 1,700 students. The school district offers 34 career pathways where students can earn college credit and industry certifications. Juniors and seniors can career and technical education courses in fields like engineering, culinary arts and construction trades.

Playing and skating at Sheridan Park
The neighborhood’s namesake park offers plenty of green space, a playground, and a shelter for all to enjoy. Skaters can be seen practicing tricks and popping ollies at the Sheridan Skate Park, while hikers and bikers have access to Shadow Trail, a paved mile-long path that links to the 6.5-mile National Road Heritage Trail. Just under 15 minutes away, the Terre Haute Casino Resort, which opened in 2024, adds a new local attraction. "They have great dining options and host events like a New Year’s Eve party," says Marlow.

Close to local restaurants and a unique pet store
The area is mostly residential, but it offers a few local gems. Tolly's Bar and Grill is a nearby favorite known for karaoke and its beer garden. Atlantis Aquatic Gardens may look unassuming from the outside, but inside, it features a fascinating variety of exotic fish and reptiles for sale. Even more intriguing is its live museum, where visitors can interact with snakes, tortoises, birds and even an American alligator. Kroger, the closest grocery store, is just five minutes south. Coffee Cup Family Restaurant is open daily and serves up filling breakfast dishes. For a true local treat, Butta’s Better BBQ serves up smoky platters, soulful sides and sweet banana pudding. More restaurants and shops are in downtown Terre Haute.

Less than 10 minutes away from major employers
Sheridan Park is less than 10 minutes from downtown Terre Haute, Union Hospital and Indiana State University, two of the city’s largest employers. It's also near North Fruitridge Avenue, a key industrial hub home to major companies like Coca-Cola Consolidated, Sony DADC, and Amcor, a packaging manufacturer. While there are a few bus stops, most residents rely on driving. The area is also serviced by an active CSX rail line, which can cause traffic delays.
