An easy drive to Mobile and nearby industrial parks
Loads of acreage. Affordable prices. A slower pace. And proximity to I-10. These are just a few of the reasons why Theodore is an attractive choice for home buyers, says Devin Schaff, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Mobile and a 17-year Mobile resident. The Cedar Grove neighborhood is the cool new kid in Theodore thanks to the Oakmont Place subdivision and its brand-new bungalows – which come equipped with SMART home technology. For those who don't want to commute into Mobile for work, Theodore has its own industrial areas and employee hubs, including the new South Alabama Logistics Park. “There’s lots of industrial stuff because it’s outside Mobile’s limits,” says Schaff and “they do have an industrial park with a couple of companies.” There is also an Amazon distribution center in the neighborhood.
On the outskirts of Cedar Grove are many large chemical plants, offering many job opportunities.

New SMART Homes occupy Oakmont Place
Ranch-style homes with a variety of features border Old Pascagoula Road, which runs northeast to Tillmans Corner. Many are found in subdivisions, including Creel Place, Grand Oaks and Oakland Park, and were built in the 1970s, ‘80s and early ‘90s. Spacious green lawns with trees are commonly seen. One-story bungalows, touted in their listings as starter homes, are for sale in the Oakmont Place subdivision, which is also off Old Pascagoula. These brand-new houses have SMART Home features including Z-wave programmable thermostats and Kwikset door locks. Home prices range from $75,000 for a three-bedroom rancher in need of TLC to $395,000 for a three-bedroom brick ranch-style house on several acres with a stocked pond. Sidewalks are rare across Cedar Grove, however, and the neighborhood is not ideal for pedestrians.
The newly constructed homes at Oakmont Place are priced in the lower end of the market range.
