Older residential community near Thornton staples
Eastlake Village—also called “Eastlake” by locals—was once an agricultural town in the early 20th century until it was annexed in 1990 by the city of Thornton. Today, its country roots are still apparent through a few long-running establishments near First Street. “It’s an old town community feel,” says Rick Cavallaro, Realtor at Rhino Realty Pros in Thornton. “It’s very residential-friendly. Everyone knows where Eastlake is. It has its own post office.” The expansive East Lake Shores Park has winding trails and a circular reservoir nearby, and neighbors can easily take the train into Denver from a nearby Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) station.
The grain elevator which still stands west of the railroad tracks was constructed in the early 1900s.

Most Eastlake Village residents own their homes; about 34% of the population rents. The neighborhood’s residential asphalt streets have tree-shaded sidewalks leading to small cul-de-sacs. Homes include early 2000s townhouses on the east side of the neighborhood and single-family homes scattered throughout. Townhouses have narrow driveways and small wooden decks. Prices fall in the $400,000 range, and homeowners can expect to pay around $250 in monthly HOA fees. Single-family homes like modern Craftsman and ranch-style homes are spread throughout Eastlake Village; these properties sit on well-manicured lots with small, open front porches and sometimes three-car garages. Some homes are within walking distance of East Lake Shores Park. Prices range from roughly $475,000 to $670,000, and some homeowners pay around $80 in monthly HOA fees.

Sipping beers at Lake Avenue Inn
Eastlake Village is heavily residential, but it’s also right next to shops and restaurants. Lisa Anne’s Country Cupboard Bakery is known for its homemade cinnamon rolls and sticky buns, and Lake Avenue Inn serves wings and draft beers. “Those restaurants have kept their hometown feel. When you walk in, you’re a part of the family,” Cavallaro says. The Mission Trace North Shopping Center near the southeastern corner has a King Soopers grocery store and small businesses like JNJ Comic Books and Jessica’s Fashion Boutique. The Denver Premium Outlets are 3 miles northwest of the community and have several retail giants like Forever 21 and H&M.
