250 people in Willow Creek
Willow Creek, a small rural town 40 miles from Bozeman, reflects an agricultural way of life in Montana. The community began as a ranching and farming hub and is still surrounded by grain farms and ranches today. Driving down tree-lined Main Street, there’s an even split of Ford F150s and horse trailers along the road. Up and down the unpaved side streets where most of the town’s houses were built, it’s the same sight. The town has about 250 residents, one restaurant, one church and one schoolhouse. The town also has a 1 out of 10 score on the CAP Crime Index, lower than the national average of 4.
Rolling hills and expansive ranches define the rural beauty of Willow Creek.

One restaurant in the neighborhood, everything else is in Three Forks
The Willow Creek Saloon was founded in 1927 and is in a 1910 building that was once a corner saloon. It’s changed identities over the years, going from barber shop to pool hall, and finally back to its roots as a restaurant serving ranchers, locals, and anglers. It’s the only restaurant in town and is known for its baby back ribs and as a place to find good company. For grocery shopping and more restaurants, residents head to Three Forks, six miles away. Three Forks Market stocks groceries, T-Rex BBQ serves hot racks of ribs out of a parked food truck, and Sawdust & Steel Brewing serves flights of IPA’s, Pilsners and sours. Bozeman or Belgrade are the closest places for bigger shopping trips. For a larger grocery store like Albertson’s, Belgrade is the closest option, and for a shopping splurge, Downtown Bozeman, with stores like Lululemon and Schnee’s, is a go-to.
Locals love Woolzie's Willow Creek Cafe for its friendly service and hearty meals.
