"You can get a lot of bang for your buck here," says Toledo home investor Raliat Thomas, a Realtor with Serenity Realty since 2021. "Investors are buying properties and fixing them up to resell, so there are some nice homes on the market." Named for the city's history in the glass industry, Glass City Metropark was completed in 2023 on the banks of the Maumee River as part of a revitalization effort. Weller Playground is nestled within a lush forest, offering visitors a serene and picturesque environment in which to enjoy various recreational activities. Weller Lake serves as a gathering spot for fishing enthusiasts. The lake is well-stocked with a variety of fish species, making it an excellent place for anglers of all skill levels.
District has open enrollment
East Toledo is served by the Toledo School District, which has open enrollment. Students can walk to and start their education at Raymer Elementary — pre-kindergarten through eighth grade—has a C from Niche, from pre-kindergarten through Grade eight. "That place has been there forever, and it's good," he says. Real Seafood Company on the water offers river and city views, and the Old Bag of Nails Pub serves Irish-inspired fare like Reuben sandwiches. For lunch, locally owned Michael's Café & Bakery offers homemade pastries, soups and sandwiches in the historic Weber Block building. Toledo Food Market is a go-to for groceries.
