Walking towards the east, residents may notice smoke rising from the stacks at the Cleveland-Cliffs iron and steel company. Locals will find it hard not to notice the scenic view made possible by the Glass City Riverwalk project when heading west towards the Maumee River.

The price is right
"You can get a lot of bang for your buck here," says Toledo home investor Raliat Thomas, a Realtor with Serenity Realty since 2021. "Investors are buying properties and fixing them up to resell, so there are some nice homes on the market." Bungalows with Dutch Colonial and Craftsman influences, ranch-style homes and American foursquares sit close together, many converted to rental duplexes or apartments. Prices range from $22,000 to $168,000. An 1,800 square foot townhome with four bedrooms runs $70,000; while a completely remodeled 1,501 square foot house with three bedrooms sells for $129,000. Most homes sit on small lots of about 1/8 acre, with narrow, fenced-in backyards and either attached or detached garages. Most homes have private driveways, and the streets, though narrow, have sidewalks and allow for parking.
