Situated along the border of Ohio and Michigan, the Whitmer-Trilby neighborhood presents a classic suburban setting with proximity to many of Toledo’s amenities. Winding tree-lined streets reveal an eclectic mix of homes with manicured lawns. It is the kind of neighborhood where kids set up lemonade stands on the sidewalk during the summer and families take evening strolls. “This is a pretty relaxed neighborhood,” says Justin Spann, a Realtor with Key Realty and lifelong Toledo resident. Many of the streets end in cul-de-sacs, providing additional peace and quiet with no through traffic. Whitmer-Trilby is a mixed-use community comprising residential, industrial, apartment, retail and business sections. The neighborhood provides an easy way around the Toledo area with several major thoroughfares close by, in addition to Interstate 475. However, there are many outdoor amenities, shops and dining options close by, with everything from local mom-and-pop shops to big box retailers. Rather than taking the car, Whitmer-Trilby residents can walk or bike to schools, shops and restaurants

Homes with midcentury appeal
The majority of homes were built between 1940 and 1960 and prices vary depending on the era. Midcentury split levels, American foursquare and ranch-style houses run between $150,000 and $300,000s, while older homes, some needing updating, range between $30,000 and $99,000. Lots vary in size, between one-eighth and one-quarter acre, and most homes have garages.
Community with three local golf courses.
Kids can ride their bikes to Trilby Park, which has a playground, baseball field, basketball court and picnic areas. Greenwood Park is another neighborhood park. At 55.9 acres, Bowman Park offers lush greenery and scenic trails. It is also the starting point of the paved Chessie Circle Trail, an 11-mile north-to-south route through western Toledo. Golfing enthusiasts can hit the fairway at one of three nearby public and semi-private courses. Tamaron Country Club offers challenging play for golfers at every skill level. The club is also a venue for weddings and events housed within a 100-year-old Tudor-style estate.
Washington Local School District
The Washington Local School and Toledo City School districts serve the Whitmer-Trilby community. Students can start their education at Meadowvale Elementary School, which has a C-plus from Niche. Washington Junior High School has a C grade. Whitmer High School, which has a B-minus, has a robust music department, offering band and orchestra classes. The community also has six private schools.
Local diners and big box retailers
The Franklin Park Mall, with its 160 chain stores and restaurants, is a 4-mile drive. Both the Star Diner and Mama’s Kitchen are known for their homemade breakfast and lunch items. The menu for Carmel’s With a Twist is inspired by Mexican cuisine. Food options include nacho chips, pizza and guacamole. Residents can gather to socialize or watch a game at one of the many local sports bars. This includes Whiskey & the Wolf serving pub grub, cocktails and craft beer. Miracle Mile shopping center is anchored by Kroger. For family entertainment, locals can head to Miracle Lanes of Toledo for an afternoon of bowling or visit Get Air Trampoline Park for some bouncing fun.
Easy access to Toledo and Michigan
Downtown Toledo is a 7-mile drive, and Whitmer-Trilby has access to major thoroughfares, including Interstate 475. Both Alexis and Laskey Roads serve as east-west commercial corridors and connect to the city of Sylvania in the west. Secor Road runs south to the Westgate Shopping Center and The University of Toledo. The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority has several stops in town, including along Secor, Jackman and Tremainsville roads. ProMedica Toledo Hospital - Emergency Department is 3 miles away, and Eugene F Kranz Toledo Express Airport is an 18-mile drive.
