In many ways, Town and Country is true to its name. This St. Louis suburb combines miles of pastures and green space with upscale city amenities. Its quiet residential streets are lined with both historic and modern custom homes and are surrounded by tall oak and maple trees that provide a private, secure atmosphere. Easy access to Interstate 64 makes getting into neighboring St. Louis a breeze, but with upscale dining, some of the best schools in the state and miles of scenic hiking trails, locals might never want to leave. “I love Town and Country,” says Koel Branson, a Realtor with Elevate Realty. “It’s a high-value area that is only getting better.”
Historical Colonials and custom-built mansions
While it is not the most expensive area in the St. Louis metro, Town and Country is one of the more high-end communities surrounding the city. Many of Town and Country’s older homes are Colonial Revival and ranch-style builds that offer floor plans of between 1,500 and 4,000 square feet for $500,000 to $700,000. The area is also filled with custom-built, spacious luxury homes that sit on several acres of land and come with price tags of up to $2 million. “It used to be more of a less populated area, but over the last 20 to 25 years, there’s been an explosion in housing and new luxury, high-end homes on large properties. It’s become a very desirable place to live,” says Liz McDonald, a luxury real estate advisor for the Suzie Wells Group and a Town and Country native. Regardless of price tag, Town and Country neighborhoods are filled with well-organized, small subdivisions that are surrounded by large yards, individual gardens and oak and maple tree cover.
