Wilton Argonne
Tree and sidewalk-lined single-family homes
Tonawanda is known for its tree-lined streets and walkable sidewalks, and Wilton Argonne matches the blueprint. Sat back on well-manicured lawns are a collection of bungalows, Cape Cods, colonial revivals and new traditional shingle-style properties. Most properties have at least a driveway for off-street parking, but most homes have a garage. Prices range from about $125,000 to $385,000, but buyers can expect a five-bedroom bungalow to sell for around $240,000, while a four-bedroom Colonial Revival hits the market at nearly $360,000. “Western New York, but more specifically the Town of Tonawanda, still lacks inventory, and because of that, the market is moving extremely fast, in most cases,” Cloutier says.Ken-Ton schools and St. Joseph's private education
Children are zoned for the Kenmore-Tonawanda Union Free School District, more commonly known as the Ken-Ton School District and scores a B Niche. Wilton Argonne has two different school paths, with Strain Avenue being the divider. Those students west of the road, most of the neighborhood, attend Lindbergh Elementary, Hoover Middle and Kenmore West High School. The three streets east of Strain Avenue attend Franklin Elementary, Franklin Middle and Kenmore East High School. According to Niche, Lindbergh Elementary and the two high schools earn a B on Niche, while Franklin Elementary School and the two middle schools are tabbed B-minuses. Both high schools offer academies in multiple fields, including computer networking and technology, information technology and pre-engineering, to help students prepare for college or careers, and completing an academy will give graduates college credits and a New York State-approved Career and Technical Education diploma.Wilton Argonne is home to one of the best private schools in the area, St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, scoring an A-minus on Niche. The private Lasallian and Roman Catholic School is for young men in Grades 9-12 and serves about 650 students annually.

Lindbergh's playground and Tonawanda youth sports
While there may not be a traditional park in Wilton Argonne proper, the Lindbergh Playground provides an open community space for locals. Children can frolic on a plastic jungle gym while their parents can keep watchful eyes on one of the nearby benches. The playground sits on an open space where dogs can play fetch or where residents can enjoy a beautiful day outside. The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department helps maintain multiple facilities and operates recreational sports leagues, including hockey, baseball/softball, soccer and bowling.Shopping and dining off Delaware and Elmwood Avenue
Residents can head west on Kenmore Avenue and eventually run into Tops Elmwood Plaza, which has many retail options. From grocery shopping at either Aldi or Tops, browsing the wide selection at Target or catching a Hollywood blockbuster at the Regal Elmwood Center. While the town of Tonawanda has a ton of restaurant options, favorites include Sinatra’s, which has been open since 1981 and is known for its Italian fare and the Howling Rooster Restaurant & Bar, which is a family-friendly option where locals grab some wings and watch the game.
Commuter highways into Buffalo and limited bus service
“If you could put a pin on a place to live and have to commute, Wilton Argonne is probably the place,” Cloutier says. Residents can head to work in downtown Buffalo or surrounding suburbs using U.S. Highway 62, which runs from Mexico to Canada and through the heart of town as one of the leading retail drags. Tonawanda is encircled by Interstate 290, an auxiliary highway connecting I-90 to I-190 and leading to downtown Buffalo. Tonawanda is serviced by the NFTA-Metro, Western New York’s Transportation Authority, and has two bus stops along the 25-Delaware line at either Main and Niagara Transit or Mid-City Plaza, ending in downtown Buffalo.Seasonal farmers markets and concerts
Being centrally located, locals can choose between a pair of nearby weekly farmer’s markets for additional grocery needs. The North Buffalo Farmers Market runs every Thursday at the North Park Community School, while the Kenmore Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from June to October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Held at Gateway Harbor Park, the Wednesday Night Canal Concert Series is another way for locals to enjoy the surrounding community. The free concert series does not allow outside food or drink but has food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
