New construction is uncommon, but renovated historic homes add character
A wide range of home styles can be found in Aigburth. “There are lots of Colonials in the neighborhood and a lot of custom and renovated homes,” Missry says. “Right on the corner of Aigburth and York Roads, there are a couple of student rentals, but for the most part, the neighborhood is made up of owner-occupied single-family homes.” Many houses were built in the early 20th century, with the newest construction dating to the 1970s. The median price is around $590,000, but due to the variance in size, style and renovation status, buyers can expect to pay anywhere from $500,000 to nearly $1 million for single-family homes. Student rentals are uncommon on the winding tree-shaded streets, given that county law prohibits more than 2 unrelated parties to occupy homes in the area. Brick townhouses close to York Road tend to cost between $300,000 and $350,000.Radebaugh Park is within view of most area homes
Pockets of green space offer residents of Aigburth a chance to get outdoors. “Lots of people walk their dogs or play at Radebaugh Park,” Missry says. Paying members can also enjoy the Country Club of Maryland, located on the east end of Aigburth Road. The club, open since 1925, offers an 18-hole golf course and a well-regarded restaurant.Towson High School is central to the neighborhood
Stoneleigh Elementary School, which scores a B-plus from Niche, is the closest public elementary school to Aigburth. Students may then proceed to Dumbarton Middle, also a B-plus. Towson High School, which earns an A, is within walking distance of nearly every neighborhood home. “I just sold a home right across the street from the high school,” Missry says. “The owner said watching the drop-off in the morning was like watching a well-coordinated ballet.” Nearby private options include Calvert Hall College High, a Catholic school founded in 1845 that scores an A-plus.Proximity to higher education is also a draw for the community. “Towson University is a very good neighbor,” Missry adds. “They work closely with the neighborhood associations to ensure their students set a good example.” In 2025, U.S. News and World Report ranked Towson University No. 5 in their list of Top Public Universities in the North.
The Wiltondale Pool is a community gathering place throughout the summer
Local events take place regularly at the Wiltondale Pool, including cookouts and competitions. “The pool accepts members from the other surrounding neighborhoods,” Missry says. “There’s also a competition during the summer where kids make their own boats and race them through the water.” More extensive options are available just down York Road in Baltimore. “It takes maybe 25 to 30 minutes to get into the city,” Missry adds. While there, residents can catch Orioles baseball games at Camden Yards or explore the exhibits at the Walters Art Museum.York Road is the quickest way to drive to Towson or Baltimore
For the most part, residents of Aigburth can walk from their homes to area destinations like the town center, the golf course or the Wiltondale Pool. When venturing out of the neighborhood, York Road serves as the main thoroughfare, running south to Baltimore and north to the mall. From the town center, commuters can connect to Interstate 695, which loops around the city.Proximity to Towson Town Center is a significant draw
Residents of Aigburth have no shortage of choice when shopping for daily necessities. “The Whole Foods has been a nice addition,” Missry says. “You can walk to get your groceries now, but a lot of people still drive to go to Trader Joe’s.” The nearest Target is across Goucher Boulevard to the east. Neighbors are also well within walking distance of the Towson Town Center, one of Maryland’s largest indoor shopping malls. The mall is home to over 150 retailers and restaurants, and the area surrounding it hosts local favorite eateries such as Towson Diner and the Charles Village Pub.
