Trinity’s small-town feel meets big regional development

Just south of High Point is the historic community of Trinity, a quiet little Piedmont suburb that provides easy access to the industries and conveniences of the greater Triad area. “[This area] used to be all furniture, textiles and tobacco, but things have changed, and those industries aren’t on the same level they used to be,” says longtime local Jenny Brewer, a Realtor with Keller Williams. “But Randolph County is growing. The development of the Greensboro Mega site with Toyota Battery Plant is bringing jobs and manufacturing to the area, and a need for housing.”

This town of about 7,100 is best known as the birthplace of Duke University. In the mid-1800s, a group of Methodist and Quakers founded a school that would become Trinity College, giving the area its name. That school moved to Durham in 1892 and eventually became the home of the Blue Devils.

Median home prices in Trinity hover around $280,000

Homes in Trinity have a median sale price of just under $280,000. The community’s older single-family properties include historic 1930s farmhouses, midcentury ranch-style homes and more contemporary properties like Cape Cods and split-levels. Brick homes on large lots, around an acre or more, are popular, and there’s a growing number of new construction properties, such as New Traditional houses and townhouses. This area is full of ponds, lakes and waterways, so there are plenty of flood zones. Properties touching these zones, like those abutting the Uwharrie and Little Uwharrie rivers, may require flood insurance.

Trinity High partners with Randolph Community College for credits

The Randolph County School System earns an overall B on Niche. Some southwestern sections of the city are zoned for Hopewell Elementary, graded B-plus. Trinity Elementary and Trinity Middle earn B-minuses. Trinity High, graded B, offers dual enrollment with Randolph Community College.

Local recreation includes a dog park, a golf course and a memorial bel

Trinity College’s original school bell now swings above Duke’s Bell Tower Residence Hall, but a replica can be viewed at Trinity College Memorial Gazebo. The private Colonial Country Club has an 18-hole golf course on the community’s west side. More recreation can be found in the surrounding communities of Thomasville and Archdale, including Creekside Park, a sports hub with a popular dog park.

Boba, barbecue and big-box stores are all close to Trinity

The locally owned Colonial Grind on Unity Street is popular for boba tea and other pick-me-ups. BBQ Joe’s is a longtime local chain serving a Southern menu on North Carolina Highway 62. It’s across the highway from a local butcher shop and Sheetz. Other conveniences, including Aldi and Food Lion, are a few miles farther down the road in Thomasville, which also has a couple big-box stores, Walmart Supercenter and Tractor Supply Co., about 6 miles away off of Interstate 85.

Trinity sits along I-85 with easy access to Durham and airport

Interstate 85 runs through Trinity and connects to Interstate 40, which is a direct route to Durham, just over 70 miles east. The Piedmont Triad International Airport is less than 30 miles north. High Point Medical Center, about 6 miles away, has the nearest emergency room.
