A popular skiing destination in the Sierra Nevada Mountains

Imagine living in a community where former Olympians rode the slopes over 60 years ago. That's what it's like living in Alpine Meadows. Home of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Alpine Meadows has unparalleled winter snow and recreational activities. While many travel for the ski season, plenty call Alpine Meadows home 365 days a year. This mountainous community is perfect for backcountry living and is known for its friendly, relaxed atmosphere. While a rustic area, home styles mirror ski cabins and Swiss chalets. Residents can wake up to panoramic views of the glistening Lake Tahoe and Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Alpine Meadows offers ample outdoor recreation opportunities

Alpine Meadows may be home to a former Winter Olympics location, but the area still offers more than unparalleled cold-weather recreation opportunities. When the weather is warm, locals can go fly-fishing in the Lake Tahoe basin at Bear Creek. Other popular summer activities include river rafting, hiking and mountain biking. Golfers can hit the Alpine Meadows Golf Course in the late spring through the fall. This public golf course features nine holes, a practice green and a clubhouse. When the cold weather hits, skiers and snowboarders can shred fresh powder at several slopes like Palisades Tahoe. This ski resort has the longest ski season of any of the slopes in the Lake Tahoe area.
