A tranquil, rural environment without the seclusion
While Daniel Farm District doesn't have the expansive country fields its name suggests, residents of this Trumbull suburb enjoy a tranquil, rural atmosphere. “The Daniel Farm area attracts those looking for a more laidback vibe. There are farmers markets and lots of parks and lakes all around,” says Kristin Egmont, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty who has served the area for 22 years. The neighborhood earns its name from Daniels Farm Road, the main roadway where locals can find the community’s crown jewel — Plasko’s Farm Creamery. The town's last operating farm, Plasko's, has been serving fresh ice cream to the community since 1925. Children here are zoned to top-rated schools, and weekends are often spent exploring the neighborhood’s many public parks and trails, making Daniel Farm District a convenient Fairfield County suburb with a rustic edge. The slow-paced atmosphere contributes to the neighborhood's CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, which is the lowest possible score.

Colonial Revivals and farmhouses with lush yards
Peaceful residential streets extend off Daniels Farm Road and wind through the Connecticut forests. "The taxes are a little higher there since there's a majority of houses and not many businesses. If you're looking to the area, you really value having the space and nature," says Paula Bachman, broker/owner at Property Choices Real Estate, who grew up in Trumbull. While houses aren’t on large parcels of land, most properties have spacious, well-maintained yards. Homes built in the 1970s and 80s appear in ranch, Cape Cod and Colonial Revival designs — prices start around $450,000 and increase to $800,000. Newly built farmhouse-inspired designs are priced between $1 million and $1.4 million.

A BMX course, playground and sports fields at Indian Ledge Park
Indian Ledge Park features a BMX course and multiple athletic fields, including a turf soccer field and a lighted softball field. Pets run around the dog park, and families can have a picnic as their kids climb on the playground. During the summer, locals cool off at the Robert G. Beach Memorial Pool, and members of the Pinewood Lake Association can swim at the lake’s sand beach or go boating and fishing on the water. As its name implies, Old Mine Park was once a prospecting and mining site, but now it's a popular picnicking spot where hikers and bikers meet up at the 5-mile Housatonic Rail Trail.

Commuters drive to train stations and major interstates
Though Trumbull is about 65 miles from Manhattan, many will still commute to New York City, at least on a hybrid basis. "Most people will drive to a train station to commute because the commuter rails are faster than being stuck in lines of traffic," Bachman says. The Bridgeport train station, where passengers board the New Haven line on the Metro-North Railroad, is about 8 miles south of Daniel Farm District. Trains take about an hour and a half to arrive at Grand Central Terminal. Residents can also drive on State Route 25, which runs through the neighborhood, to connect with major interstates. New Haven is about 20 miles northeast.
