Welcoming Tucson community adjacent to spacious parks and local shopping
Offering views of the Santa Catalina mountains from nearly every direction, Dietz is a well-maintained Southeastern Tucson area known for variety. “It’s not a cookie-cutter neighborhood for sure,” says Lori Hinojosa, a resident since 1992 and co-founder of the Dietz Neighborhood Association. “When I moved in, there were more middle-aged to retired-aged people—now we have families with children playing outside and riding bikes in the streets. It’s absolutely a positive thing.” Along with proximity to grocery stores, a well-known skating rink and plenty of parks, the Dietz area has a celebratory, communal spirit. “Everyone has their own space, but come the holidays, it’s not uncommon to hear all kinds of music playing in the neighborhood. And I’m good with that,” Hinojosa says.
Most Dietz homes feature a two-car carport, with sidewalks and individual mailboxes.
Dietz is a popular, family-friendly neighborhood on Tucson's Eastside.

On the East side of Tucson there are very little variety of stores. Not many mom and pop stores are available. Each of the shopping centers seem to repeat themselves every two miles with the main chains. The Big Stores of Target, Walmart and Walgreens seem to prevail the most in the area.

The best thing about this place is the environment. The plants, the wildlife, the mountain views, the sunsets, the fact that Tucson has low light pollution - the scenery is gorgeous and I like to go hiking in the canyons and mountains. But the local government is poor, the drivers are rude, and the roads are poorly kept up.

The area I live in is fairly safe. There is crime that you can see at times and there is a police helicopter fairly often and the police are visible. But, ironically, the police are very slow at times when it comes to responding unless it is an emergency.
