With a scenic desert mountain landscape, Mountain View is a residential neighborhood that lives up to its name. Sitting just a few miles north of downtown Tucson, Mountain View provides its residents a taste of downtown at a more affordable price. The community, focused on the outdoors, also enjoys its local restaurants and its annual Dia de Los Muertos event. “What draws people here is the climate and the mountains that surround Tucson,” Jeni Jankowski, a Realtor with the Long Realty Company says. “People here love to hike in the mountains. We also have an avid biking community.”

Located in northern Tucson, this community consists of long, connected streets with a scenic mountain backdrop. Houses in Mountain View vary between single and two stories and often have gravel front and back yards. Midcentury and ranch-style homes have kept their curb appeal with fresh exterior paint jobs and finishes but also have renovated interiors. These homes go for between $150,000 and $320,000. New builds in the northern area of Mountain View are spacious, two-level properties that feature stucco finishes, enclosed garages and spacious floor plans. Mountain View has several diverse restaurant options for its residents, including Mexican fare at La Botana Tacos, known for its two-for-one margaritas. Some locals like to head to Mazaj Café for its authentic shawarma. For groceries or other daily essentials, there is a Walmart in the neighborhood. Tucson’s annual Dia de Los Muertos event
Every November, Tucson has a Dia de Los Muertos event, which translates to the ‘Day of the Dead.’ This event has become beloved by the community. It was created to serve the public need to mourn, reflect and celebrate the universal experience of Death, through their ancestors, loved ones and the living. “It’s a big parade,” Jankowski said. “Over 10,000 people walk in the parade. It’s so peaceful.”
Amphitheater High School boasts impressive athletics program
Residents with children can send their children to schools in the Tucson Unified School District. For Pre-K through 5th grade, students may attend Frances Owen Holaway Elementary School, which earned a B grade from Niche. From there, they may head to Amphitheater Middle School, which earned a C-plus grade from Niche. For high school, students may go to Amphitheater High School, which earned a B-minus grade from Niche and boasts an impressive athletics program. Academy Adventures Midtown is a charter school located in Mountain View that provides its K-5 students with Chromebooks and computer programming classes.

Bike riding on The Chuck Huckelberry Loop
While Mountain View doesn’t have any parks within the neighborhood, opportunities for outdoor enjoyment aren’t far away. A 2-mile drive north is The Chuck Huckelberry Loop, which is a system of paved paths and short segments of buffered bike lanes connecting the Cañada del Oro, Rillito, Santa Cruz, and Pantano River Parks with the Julian Wash and Harrison Road Greenway. The loop includes 137 miles of paved pathways.
